Brady family to give Jackson Street Pier a giant "Sandusky" sign

A 20-foot "SANDUSKY" sign is coming to the north end of Jackson Street Pier, a gift from the Brady family and their company, Brady Signs.

The Sandusky City Commission formally accepted the donation Aug. 10. City Manager John Orzech accepted it for the city. Installation is planned for fall 2026.

What it will look like

Each letter stands about four feet tall, spelled out in the script logo that the Greater Sandusky Partnership developed in 2023 for the city's Destination Sandusky brand. The same lettering already appears on downtown banners and merchandise.

A landmark sign at the pier was part of the original vision when the pier's renovation was first planned nearly a decade ago.

Who pays

The Brady family is covering design, materials, fabrication and installation. Once the sign is up, the city takes over maintenance. Former Commission President Dick Brady said the family hopes it will celebrate Sandusky's renaissance and serve as a lasting symbol of community pride.
