Firelands Current is owned and operated by Stone Dragon Media, LLC ("we," "us"). By using this website you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Using the site
You can read Firelands Current without an account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You may use the site only for lawful purposes and only in the ways these terms allow.
Your account
- Give us accurate information, and keep your password and any sign-in method you link to your account secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- You may sign in with an email address and password, or with Facebook, Google, Apple, or Microsoft. Those services have their own terms, which apply to your use of them.
- One person, one account. Don't create accounts to get around a suspension or to impersonate someone.
- You can delete your account at any time; see "How to delete your data" in our Privacy Policy.
What you post
Talk of the Town, story comments, event discussions, and our forms let you share content such as text, replies, and news tips. You keep ownership of what you post. By posting it, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it on and in connection with Firelands Current, including in search results and previews. You confirm you have the right to post it.
Your display name and posts in public discussions are visible to everyone and may be found by search engines. News tips and messages you send through our forms are private to our staff, and we may use the facts in them to report a story, but we won't publish your name without asking you.
Community rules
Don't post content that:
- is unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit;
- defames a person or reveals someone's private information;
- infringes someone's copyright, trademark, or other rights;
- is spam, a scam, or advertising we haven't agreed to; or
- tries to disrupt the site, probe it for weaknesses, or collect its data with automated tools.
Readers can report posts. Our moderators may hide or remove content, and may suspend or end an account, at our discretion, including when a post breaks these rules or the account puts others at risk.
Our content
The stories, photographs, design, and logo on Firelands Current belong to us or the people credited, and are protected by copyright. You may share links to our stories and quote them briefly with credit. Please don't copy or republish them beyond that without our written permission.
Advertising
The site shows ads from local businesses. Advertisers are responsible for their ads and their own websites. When you click an ad you leave Firelands Current, and the advertiser's terms and privacy policy apply. We don't endorse the products or services advertised. Businesses that advertise with us do so under a separate agreement with us.
Links and third parties
The site links to other websites and services we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.
Disclaimers
We work to report accurately and to keep the site available, but the site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. Comments and discussions reflect their authors' views, not ours. Nothing on the site is legal, medical, or financial advice.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Stone Dragon Media, LLC and its members and staff aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Ending your access
You can stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as the license to your posts already made public, our disclaimers, and the limits on liability, continue afterward.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Erie County, Ohio, and you agree to their jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll post a notice on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
