Huron County land-use survey seeks input on growth, farmland through Oct. 31
Residents can weigh in online or pick up a paper survey in Norwalk or Willard as the county updates its land-use plan.
Huron County residents have until Oct. 31 to weigh in on how the county should balance future development and farmland preservation as officials update its land-use plan.
The Huron County Growth Partnership's survey announcement, posted Sept. 4, invites residents, property owners, businesses and other community stakeholders to participate.
The online Community Land Use & Agriculture Survey was available Monday, Oct. 5. Its introduction asks residents about land use and where growth should occur and estimates the survey takes five minutes.
Paper copies are available at Norwalk Public Library, 46 W. Main St.; the Huron County Community Library's Willard location, 6 W. Emerald St.; and the Huron County Soil & Water District and Farm Service Agency location, 8 Fair Road in Norwalk, according to the announcement.
The partnership says feedback will help identify priorities for farmland, housing, infrastructure and other development needs. Responses will be considered alongside technical studies and other public input.
The planning process announced in July brings together county commissioners, the planning commission, the soil and water conservation district and the Growth Partnership, with Mannik & Smith Group as consultant. Ohio Department of Agriculture funding supports the work.
The July announcement also outlined three public engagement meetings. The survey announcement does not give meeting dates; project updates are available through the partnership's news page. Questions about the survey can be sent to outreach@huroncountyohio.com.
