Huron leaf pickup runs Oct. 26 to Dec. 4

Huron city crews will start collecting loose leaf piles from the curb Monday, Oct. 26, and continue through Friday, Dec. 4.

The Street Department plans two passes through the city, starting on the east side and working west.

Rules for curbside piles

• Rake leaves to within 6 feet of the curb.
• Leaves only. Piles with sticks or other yard waste won't be picked up.
• Don't rake leaves into the street or behind parked cars.

Crews will mark piles that don't follow the rules with an X and leave them behind.

Bagged leaves

Residents with Republic Services trash pickup can also bag leaves and set them out with their weekly yard waste, which the city says is unlimited and collected year-round. Marked cans are accepted as well.

Questions go to the Huron Street Department at 419-433-9504 or City Hall at 419-433-5000.
