Margaretta Township recycling drop-off closes; residents directed to Milan

The township garage drop-off closed Sept. 30. Erie County says contamination drove the decision and directs residents to recycling at the county landfill.

Margaretta Township's recycling drop-off at the township garage closed Sept. 30, leaving residents who used it to take their recyclables elsewhere.

The trustees chose not to renew the contract with Republic Services, according to an Erie County Solid Waste District notice. The county says ongoing contamination in recycling loads was the main reason for the closure.

The county directs residents to the recycling drop-off at the Erie County Landfill, listed in the closure notice at 10105 Hoover Road in Milan. The notice does not list hours or say whether the township plans to offer a replacement location.

Residents can find other options through the recycling drop-off map linked on the county's website. For questions about county recycling services, call Environmental Services at 419-433-7303.
