Saints Peter and Paul Church closes temporarily after roof problem
Weekday Masses move to St. Mary's Oct. 7–9 while the parish seeks a temporary repair. The hoped-for reopening date is not confirmed.
Saints Peter and Paul Church in Sandusky has temporarily closed after an engineering inspection found a compromised roof support, the Catholic Parishes of Sandusky said.
An engineering firm examined the church's attic roof beams Oct. 2. Nearly all were in good condition, but one was compromised, according to the parish notice.
Weekday Masses scheduled at Saints Peter and Paul Oct. 7–9 will instead take place at noon at St. Mary's Church, 429 Central Ave. Confessions scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, also move to St. Mary's.
The parish says the church will remain closed until a temporary repair can be made. It hopes to complete that work by Oct. 9; the notice does not confirm a reopening date or give a repair cost.
Pastoral offices remain open on their regular schedule. Check the parish website for updates before attending services.
