New this year in Sandusky schools: ClassDojo, translated messages and a single first day

The district is using one app to reach families in more than 190 languages, and every student started school on the same day.

Sandusky City Schools started the 2026–27 year on Wednesday, Aug. 26, with every student beginning the same day and no staggered starts.

A new way to reach families

The biggest change for parents is ClassDojo, which the district is using in every building for the first time. Teachers use it to share classroom updates and talk with families directly. The district says it translates messages in real time into more than 190 languages.

That fits a district where supply lists are published in five languages: English, Spanish, Pashto, Vietnamese and Twi.

Tools families already use

OneView Portal: Enrollment and emergency medical forms are online only. The district says it will not accept paper forms.
ProgressBook Parent Access: Grades, schedules and attendance. Parents need the student’s registration key.
Here Comes the Bus: Real-time bus tracking, using the student’s ID number.
