Ken Frost starts as Sandusky public works director

Ken Frost has started work as Sandusky's director of public works, the city announced Sept. 17, filling a post that has been run on an interim basis since the end of 2025.

Frost comes from Fremont, where he has been safety service director since 2016. He will oversee the engineering, water treatment, wastewater treatment and public services divisions. Public services covers forestry, water distribution, sewer maintenance, streets, traffic and Oakland Cemetery.

Twenty years in local government

The city says Frost has more than 20 years of municipal experience. Before Fremont he was village administrator and police chief in Walbridge and safety coordinator for the Sandusky County Park District. He holds a master's degree in homeland security administration and a bachelor's in criminal justice administration, both from Tiffin University, and serves in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.

City Manager John Orzech said Frost's experience will serve some of the city's largest departments well. Frost said he plans to work with residents and businesses to keep Sandusky safe, clean and well maintained.

Ten months of interim leadership

Aaron Klein left the director's job at the end of 2025. Josh Snyder, the city's public works engineer, led the department in the meantime, and Orzech thanked him for keeping work on track during the transition.
