The Sandusky Bay Pathway: what’s finished, what’s next and where the gaps are
Five segments are done. The next, from Mills Street to Lions Park, is expected to start construction in 2027.
Sandusky’s waterfront trail is filling in one piece at a time. When it is finished it will run about nine miles inside city limits. Here is where it stands.

The Cleveland Road segment, including a bridge over Pipe Creek, was paid for in part by a 2022 federal RAISE grant. It is the piece we covered when the newest segment opened.
Next up
A 1.5-mile stretch from Mills Street to Lions Park is expected to begin construction in 2027, funded by a $1.09 million grant from ODOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program. It connects central neighborhoods to the waterfront.
The gaps that remain
The city lists two more sections without a funded schedule: Cedar Point Drive to Meigs Street (First Street), and Lions Park to Venice Road along West Monroe Street and Edgewater Drive.
Farther east, ODOT’s U.S. 6 project will add path along Cleveland Road toward Huron. The city’s pathway page has the maps.
